We apologize in advance...

For talking about our fabulous beach weekend! We know you are all experiencing record lows, amazing amounts of snow and rain, and a winter that just won't end, but maybe this post can serve as one more incentive to come visit us...

We left a cool (low 70's) Guatemala City on Friday afternoon and 2 hours later were on the black sand beach of Las Lisas enjoying the perfect 80+ degree weather, with a perfect tropical breeze and cocktails in hand...all by 5pm. There is no other way to explain the expereince other than absolutely amazing, unbelievable, I cannot believe this is our life right now.

The beach house where we spent our weekend is only accesible by off roading down a winding path and then 4 wheeling across the sand. You leave the highway and end up in paradise. There are literally no other people around, except the staff that wait on you hand and foot, the few fishermen going out for the daily catch, and the random beach pig (that's a first, right?!?!). We lounged by the pool, snoozed in hammocks, ate way too much seafood, waded in the beautiful Pacific...I will stop here, I don't really want to rub it in, just want to share!

But in all seriousness, this life is way too easy to get used to and we are way too lucky to have made Guatemalan friends that like us enough to take us their vacation getaway.
Our friends, Marie Belle and Gunther!

We also took a side trip the family cattle farm. So cute, right?!?!?

And this is our other new friend from the weekend -- we should have come up with a name! We actually bought her at the corner store for $2 dollars. People buy them to eat their eggs, we bought her to save her! Run free little one...
